My love affair with this breed began over a decade and a half ago. Sixteen years ago, I welcomed my very first “sugar baby” into my heart. From that moment, I was captivated. Her gentle spirit, joyful personality, and unwavering devotion created a bond that defined my understanding of what a dog should be. She wasn’t just a pet; she was family.
When she passed, the silence she left behind was deafening. I couldn’t bring myself to replace her immediately because a love like that is unique. I carried her memory with me, waiting for the right moment to open my heart again.
That moment arrived three years ago on my birthday. My loving husband drove 14 hours to bring Teddy, a beautiful tricolor Coton de Tulear, into our lives. Holding him for the first time, I felt a rush of joy and familiarity—Teddy reminded me exactly why this breed had stolen my heart all those years ago.
As Teddy grew, we realized he was special. Two years later, after careful consideration, education, and reflection, we saw that he possessed the temperament, health, and bloodline that aligned perfectly with my vision for the breed. How do I reserve a puppy from Royal Sugar Coton?
The first step is to fill out our puppy application form. Once approved, you can place a non-refundable deposit to join our waitlist for an upcoming litter. This deposit is applied to the total purchase price of your puppy. Because we are a small, dedicated breeder, our litters are limited to ensure each puppy receives the highest level of care and attention.
At what age can I take my new puppy home?
Our puppies are ready to join their new families between 8 and 10 weeks of age. This period is crucial for them to learn important social behaviors from their mother and littermates. By this age, they are emotionally and physically prepared for the transition to a new environment, which helps ensure a confident and well-adjusted puppy.
Are your puppies sold with breeding rights?
Our puppies are sold exclusively as companion pets with a strict spay/neuter agreement. This means they do not come with breeding rights. We require proof of spaying or neutering by the age specified in our contract. This policy helps protect the integrity of the breed and prevents unplanned litters.
What is your lifetime return policy?
Our commitment to our puppies is for life. If for any reason during the dog’s life you are unable to care for them, our contract says that you have to give us the dog back. This ensures that no dog from Royal Sugar Coton ever ends up in a shelter or rescue. We will either care for the dog ourselves or find them another carefully screened, loving home.
